I’ve noticed that many WordPress themes have decided to add Schema MicroData to their themes. While I applaud this move, there should be an easy way to turn it off when you would rather use the newer JSON-LD format.
The WordPress Theme Genesis and it’s child themes have this all coded in and wrap the whole page, starting with the body tag.
One way to remove this, from Genesis themes specifically is with the Schema Removal Plugin by Hesham Zebida.
I did notice that using the Dynamik Generator Child Theme, that the MicroData code for the menu’s is hardcoded and the Schema Removal Plugin does not remove it. Since the plugin does remove the initial
itemtype=”http://schema.org/
it should not be a problem, aside from extra useless code on your pages.
